4 Exciting New Games

There are 4 new card and miniature games coming out in the second half of 2014 that we will be fully stocking and supporting with Organized Play and other events.  I wanted to take a minute to highlight these 4 games today.

Golem Arcana

Golem Arcana is a pre-assembled pre-painted miniatures game from Jordan Weisman, founder of FASA and WizKids, and the creator of Clix-based minis.  What is Golem Arcana?  Let’s let them tell you, taken from their web page:

Golem Arcana is a digitally enhanced miniatures boardgame that leverages the power of a smartphone or tablet to deliver an unprecedented and engaging experience. GA offers the richness and tactical depth of other miniatures boardgames without any of the hassles; the free Golem Arcana app handles all the rules and record keeping, freeing up the players to concentrate on devising strategies and having fun.

Each player assembles an army consisting of anywhere from three to twelve Golems, the sorcerer Knights who pilot them, and a couple of Ancient Ones he might call upon for supernatural favors. The idea is to select forces that can use their special abilities in concert to wreak havoc on the enemy army. Golems are represented on the game board with pre-painted figures while Knights and Ancient Ones are digital characters purchased within the mobile App.

This game is currently set to release August 13th.  The base set is $80 with individual expansions as well.  We are currently taking pre-orders and plan to run events starting in September for this game.  To learn more, check out their web site www.golemarcana.com

Dungeons and Dragons Attack Wing

Combining the popularity of fantasy miniatures with the simple elegance of the FlightPath system (used by X-Wing and Star Trek Attack Wing miniatures), D&D Attack Wing is another pre-painted, pre-assembled minis game.  Instead of the space battles setting of the previous FlightPath games, however, this game will have a D&D Fantasy setting utilizing dragons, wizards, giants, angels, and many other creatures set in fantasy RPGs.  The other new mechanic in this iteration of FlightPath is rules for elevations.  Oh, and did I mention the minis:

Tiamat

This game is currently set to release the first week of October.  Base set is $49.99 and expansions are $14.99-$29.99.  We will be fully supporting Organized Play and have already signed up to run the Tyranny of Dragons storyline event with Grand Prize Tiamat (the 5-headed dragon in the picture).  For more information on the game, check out wizkidsgames.com.

Warhammer 40K Conquest Living Card Game

The newest Living Card Game from Fantasy Flight, this one is based in Games Workshop’s Warhammer 40k universe.  Players can build decks around their favorite faction and battle for supremacy of the Traxis sector.  The game will launch with support for the Imperial Guard, Space Marines, Tau, Eldar, Dark Eldar, Chaos, and Ork factions.  The Base Set is $39.99.  The game is currently set for August release.  There is no specific date, but expect it to release around GenCon (August 14-17)  For more information check out their website, www.fantasyflightgames.com

Doomtown Reloaded

This is an Expandable Card Game from AEG (makers of Legend of the Five Rings, Smash Up, and pocket games like Love Letter).  It will use the same fixed distribution system as an LCG but can’t be called an LCG because Fantasy Flight copyrighted the term.  This is a relaunch of the old Doomtown trading card game.  One of the coolest aspects of this game is conflict resolution.  All the cards in your deck also have a poker value (i.e. Ace of Spades).  When conflicts arise, both players draw poker hands to determine the resolution.  This game is set to launch at GenCon with a mass release following immediately after.  For more information, check out their website www.alderac.com/doomtown
